Metelec new starters

Specialist copper supply chain partner Metelec has continued its recent growth by welcoming five new recruits into the business.

Metelec, which recently re-located to state-of-the-art new facilities at Hilton Cross Business Park in Wolverhampton, has added the new colleagues across its sales and production teams.

Sarah Kane (Account Manager), Carol Mears (Sales Support) and Charlotte Hazeldine-Freeman (Sales Executive) are joined by Jason Langford and Carl Brearley as Production Operatives.

Sarah has worked in the metals industry for 12 years, with strong experience in stainless steel and high nickel alloys.

“I was attracted by the opportunity to join a growing business in a booming industry,” she said. “Metelec has a really strong leadership team and we are making the most of the amazing opportunities in copper.”

Carol has been recruited to support the sales team by processing orders, filing, booking transport companies and liaising with partners in Ireland.

Carol said: “I’ve worked in admin my whole life and have previously been within the steel industry. I love it because it’s so varied – no day is ever mundane.”

Charlotte has made the switch from the construction industry.

“One of my main targets is to grow the range of copper alloys, which is an exciting challenge,” said Charlotte. “So far I have been looking to reinvigorate old or dormant accounts.

“There is an excellent leadership team here with a clear direction of travel.”

Carl is embarking on his first career.

He said: “I was doing agency work but was looking for somewhere to settle where I could start my career properly. I am delighted to have found my calling at Metelec and I plan on growing here for many years to come.

“I have been well trained on the punching and bending machines and now feel comfortable in operating them to a high standard.”

Jason has worked in the metal industry for 12 years but was keen to progress into production.

Jason said: “I have a mathematical mind so enjoy working with machinery and calculating allowances and how much material is needed.

“I have learnt a lot already and I am excited for the future. The team has been very welcoming and friendly and we are all pulling in the same direction.”

Metelec is one of the UK and Ireland’s leading specialist manufacturers of busbars and a distributor of copper bar, copper profiles and copper components. It is the UK logistics arm of Gindre Duchavany, the largest manufacturer of copper extruded bars in Europe.

Managing Director Kevin Draper said: “We are delighted to welcome these five professionals into our business. They have all settled in very well, have embraced our ethos and are enjoying our premier new facilities.

“We are focussing on huge areas of growth within copper, including power infrastructure for electric vehicles and data centres, and see enormous potential for continued success in the years to come.”

Metelec turns over more than £30 million per annum and is a trusted supply chain partner to a growing number of switchgear specialists.
