Commercial purity coppers used in electrical applications are specified for the manufacture of components when there is a need for high conductivity, corrosion resistance and ductility.
The introduction of sulphur to copper has the effect of cutting the chips into short pieces thus enabling a much higher machining speed than is possible with pure copper. This material can machine up to four times the speed of copper and tooling also has a greater life expectancy. Sulphur copper C111 / C14700 / CW114C is suited to components that require extensive machining.
Typical applications include gas-cutting nozzles, electrical applications and electrical switches on power semiconductors.
Free Machining Tellurium Copper C109 / C14500 / CW118C
Alongside free machining sulphur copper, we are also free machining tellurium copper specialists. The cutting properties of copper can be significantly improved by alloying copper with tellurium. The addition of tellurium has a minimal effect on the thermal and electrical conductivity and ductility of the copper.
