Turning the page – Angela Storey joins Metelec team

Metelec has appointed an experienced procurement specialist to help with the business’ continued growth and to ensure industry-leading stock availability.

Angela Storey has been brought in as Procurement Manager having spent almost the entirety of her 39-year career within the metals industry.

Having started in the Sheffield mills after graduating from the University of Newcastle, Angela has held various roles including Production Control Manager, Marketing and Purchasing Manager.

Angela said: “I was aware of Metelec as I’ve been in the industry for such a long time so when the opportunity arose I was keen to explore it.

“I was really impressed with the company’s vision and clear strategy for progression. I’m delighted to join the business and have had an excellent welcome.

“Copper has an exciting future and Metelec is leading the way in the UK.”

Demand for copper is expected to boom in the years to come as electric vehicles and data centres continue to grow.

Angela said stocking the right products for Metelec’s customer base is of key importance as the market develops.

“I am here to take an overarching look at the procurement process and inventory,” said Angela.

“Of course, a key part of that is maximising cost potential, but it also means making sure we are stocking the right product at the right time – and at the right price.

“There’s always a challenge in forecasting, and my experience in the industry enables me to take a balanced view.”

Kevin Draper, Metelec managing director, welcomed Angela to the team.

He said: “We have experienced significant growth in recent years and we stand ready to help address the challenges of the future and electrification.

“It is important that we have the best people within our team and we are delighted to welcome Angela on board. She is an expert in ensuring the widest range of stock is available for the benefit of our key customers.”
